Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA)

As we all know Tasmania is lucky enough to enjoy some of the best fresh produce in Australia.  At HCEC, we are proud of our relationships with our local suppliers and think that the concept of ‘food miles’ is weird because that’s just how we do things in Hobart!

So when we had the chance to welcome 500 dietitians to Hobart last year, we were excited to share our fresh food philosophy with them and help bring their conference to life.

You would think that catering for a conference full of people whose lives are built around healthy options and wellbeing would be difficult, correct? But we’re proud to say it was an absolute breeze.  Our standard menu options got all the ticks of approval in terms of both offering and dietary requirements. We even had the chance to work with the association and their sponsors to develop new menu offerings with a range of promotional product sessions during the event.

A cocktail reception kicked off the conference with a Tasmanian flavour to it in a ‘Tasting Tasmania’ style event. Not only did delegates get the chance to meet local Tassie food champions Matthew Evans and Ben Milbourne while enjoying some amazing produce; but a pop-up mini marketplace also gave delegates the opportunity to check out some uniquely Tasmanian craft products and meet their makers.

Wanting to explore more of greater Hobart, the final Conference Dinner was held at the nearby Salamanca Arts Centre.
