The Australian Physiotherapy Association were in Hobart during October for their 2018 APA NEXT Conference.

Attracting over 500 delegates, Hobart proved to be a very popular destination for this conference, which was targeted at the Association’s business leaders. In addition to smashing their anticipated delegate numbers, the conference received the highest level of trade support in the history of the event.

Elaine Grant, Manager for Conference and Events at APA remarked that they “were extremely happy with the support received from our exhibitors. Everything was easy and Exhibitors had no issue getting themselves or their gear to Hobart.”

A key driver in the decision to bring the event to Hobart was the ability for delegates to network and engage in a city that is not all about big business. The proximity of the venue to the cultural centre gave delegates a chance to explore and immerse themselves in all that Hobart has to offer.

Hobart’s growing reputation as a city with culture and heart was further brought to life for delegates through a keynote presentation from Leigh Carmichael, Dark Mofo’s Creative Director.

2018 marked the first time that this conference had been held in Tasmania but likely not the last given that the APA team “have been inundated with positive feedback about the venue – your staff and service offered throughout the four days,” according to Chief Executive Officer Cris Massis. Wanting to give their delegates the opportunity to explore Hobart further, both social functions were taken off-site. The Welcome was held in The Atrium at Henry Jones (a 2-minute walk from the Hotel) with the Dinner held at Glen Albyn Estate.

The highlight of this event for our team – a wall of ASICS shoes. Now that’s the type of exhibit to create some serious sneaker envy throughout the office!

Elaine sums up why bring the conference to Hobart with a simple answer: “I like Hobart so it was an easy decision to bring it here.”
